The father and missing six-year-old boy were discovered dead together, and Michigan authorities are looking into the possibility of a murder-suicide. After the boy’s father neglected to give him back to her in a timely manner on Monday, August 19, the mother of the child called the police. Following several days of searching, everyone’s greatest fears were realised on Wednesday, August 21.

The Isabella County Sheriff’s Office in Michigan got a call in the evening of August 19 regarding a mother’s missing six-year-old kid. That morning, the boy’s father was meant to bring him back to her, but he never showed up.

Deputies searched for Michael Steven Winchell and his kid Rowan Milford Morey at his home while the boy’s mother posted images of her son on Facebook. Over the course of the following day, police made little progress in finding Winchell or the youngster.

Although Winchell’s brother could be found, detectives were unable to speak with the 48-year-old father. On August 21, family members showed up at Winchell’s property to assist with the search. Someone discovered an isolated camper in the back of the property while scouring the area.

They observed Winchell, who seemed to be dead, after breaking through one of the camper’s windows. When police broke into the camper, they discovered Rowan and Winchell dead. Despite the fact that the case is still being investigated, preliminary indications indicate that Winchell shot his kid before shooting himself.

“I appreciate you giving your well wishes for a secure return. After learning that her son had been recovered, Rowan’s mother posted on Facebook, saying, “Unfortunately, our fears were realised and Rowan has been found but is no longer with us.” I am at a loss for words. How could a father shoot his own son to death?
