- Celine Dion announced in 2022 that she had been diagnosed with a rare health condition affecting her muscles and vocal cords.
- The singer’s eldest sister, Claudette Dion, has been providing updates on her health ever since.
- Celine stepped away from the limelight since the announcement and has been keeping a low profile. She currently lives at her home in Las Vegas, which she bought with her late husband, with whom she shares three kids.
Celine Dion announced that she was diagnosed with a rare debilitating medical condition. Her sister Claudette Dion has since provided an update on her health.
In an interview, Claudette, one of the 14 Dion siblings, revealed how the Queen of Power Ballads is handling her illness and candidly divulged more about the condition.

“She’s doing everything to recover. She’s a strong woman,” said Claudette, adding that the family knows little about Celine’s condition. The Grammy Award winner’s sibling stated there is nothing much the family can do for the star to ease her “pain.”
Claudette, 74, highlighted the symptoms of the illness, saying, “There are spasms – they’re impossible to control. You know when people often jump up in the night because of a cramp in the leg or the calf? It’s a bit like that, but in all muscles.”

In December 2022, 55-year-old Celine revealed in an emotional video on social media that she had been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome.
The Candian native told fans that she was suffering from spasms that were affecting her daily routine, making it challenging for her to walk. The condition has also affected her vocal cords.

While on tour in Germany once, the songstress experienced muscle spasms just before going on stage to perform. She started panicking and told her team that she would not be able to go through with it.
However, she garnered the courage to perform but sounded nasal. She and her team decided to make some adjustments by lowering the song keys to accommodate her. The star, who said her condition has taught her to talk with her kids, later told fans that she was suffering from sinus and throat infections.
Yet she did not even know what she was dealing with then and felt the burden of being dishonest with her fans. Celine, who grew up in a large musical family, has since canceled plans for concerts and decided to pause her Courage world tour until she eventually recovers and is able enough to grace the stage again.

The award-winning artist has since retreated from the public eye. She has reportedly been cared for by “a great team of doctors” and a sports-medicine therapist to regain her strength.

Celine lives with her three sons, René-Charles, Eddy, and Nelson. She welcomed them with her late husband, René Angelil, who sadly died in January 2016 at age 73.
The mother of three previously owned a waterpark in Florida after she and her spouse purchased a five-acre plot of land in 2008. They built their dream estate from scratch two years later.
The property, inspired by the Bahamas, featured 13 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms. It also had various water features, including two pools, two slides, and a lazy river.

However, Celine, who started singing professionally at age 12, decided to sell the house after she made a career move to relocate to Las Vegas, where she signed a deal for her residency in 2005. It made it easier for her to be there with her loved ones.

Still, the abode on Jupiter Island, with a waterpark, remained on the market for quite some time. Celine only managed to make a sale four years later, selling it for $38.5 million at the time.

“The Power of Love” singer sold her former home, which she once shared with her spouse Angelil, a musical producer and talent manager, only a year after he passed away.
Celine reportedly sold off another property in Summerlin, Las Vegas, in April 2023 for a whopping $30 million. She bought the newly built mansion in 2017 for $9.2 million.

The house is 31,000 square feet and sits over an acre of land overlooking a golf course. It features an underground garage and a massive swimming pool. There are four bedrooms and twelve bathrooms throughout the home, including a furnished basement and spa.

Meanwhile, Celine’s 1.5-acre current home in Las Vegas is situated in Henderson, Nevada, which she and her husband Angelil purchased in 2003 for $1.2 million. She renovated it shortly after moving in, having relocated in 2003.

The estate sits over an acre of land spanning more than 8,100 square feet and features four bedrooms, six bathrooms, and three fireplaces.
Amid the pandemic, Celine filmed a video from her kitchen urging fans to stay home. The glimpse inside her kitchen showed her sitting in front of a large shelving.

The theme of the space is white gloss-fronted cabinets and stainless-steel fittings. Celine showed off another room in her house, which featured an all-white theme.
There were white leather tub chairs, a high-shine white table, and drapes. In addition, she reportedly added a collection of candles to the space.

The property, which is estimated to be $4.5 million, also consists of a detached guest house, which sits on 2,000 square feet and has one bedroom and one bathroom. The outdoor grounds feature a basketball court and a big pool.
Notably, the “That’s the Way It Is” hitmaker previously owned multiple properties, including her Montreal home in her native land, Québec, Canada.
Before acquiring her massive real estate portfolio, Celine first found success on the Las Vegas Strip, where she has performed for nearly twenty years at the Colosseum and Caesar’s Palace.
At the beginning of her residency, the songstress reportedly earned $500,000 per show. This means that if she had 3-5 shows weekly, she made an average of $2 million monthly.

The Hollywood star became one of the most renowned singers to start a residency. Celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Mariah Carey followed suit, having signed deals for their residencies in the past years.

Caesar’s Palace built a 4,000-seat arena inspired by the Roman Colosseum, and Celine’s residency called “A New Day” became an instant success and sold out every show.
She is regarded as one of the best-selling female artists, alongside the likes of Carey and Madonna. Celine garnered worldwide success with hit songs such as “Because You Loved Me, “My Heart Will Go On,” and I’m Alive,” and has won numerous awards and accolades.
