“Mommy just made alien water on the floor”

Chantelle Edmund had meticulously planned for an underwater birth, but life had other plans. Baby Eva Rai arrived two weeks early, leaving Chantelle no option but to give birth at home. Her 8-year-old daughter, Keira Jade, and her niece rose to the occasion.

Recalling the experience, Chantelle shared, “When the unexpected happens, you discover how strong you truly are.” Keira and her niece quickly fetched towels and water, assisting with the swift delivery. Just 35 minutes later, baby Eva Rai made her entrance into the world, with Keira’s steady hands playing a crucial role.

After ensuring her mom and baby sister were safe, Keira called for an ambulance, humorously telling the operator, “My mother just made an alien on the floor!” Until then, Keira had believed that babies arrived through a “secret door” in a mother’s belly. This firsthand experience not only reshaped her understanding but also turned her into a local hero at school and deepened her love for her newborn sister.

This heartwarming story is a reminder that acts of heroism often come from the most unexpected places—sometimes, right at home.
