Stay strong! Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Obama family for their tragic loss

Marian Robinson, mother of Michelle Obama, passed away peacefully early Friday morning at the age of 86. Fondly known as the “First Grandmother” during Barack Obama’s presidency, she was a steady and influential presence in the White House.

In a family statement, they shared, “As a mother, she was our anchor, a calm and nonjudgmental witness to our successes and setbacks.”

Michelle Obama honored her mother as her unwavering support, tweeting, “She was always there for whatever I needed.”

A devoted grandmother to Sasha and Malia, Robinson cherished spending time with her family, while preferring the quiet comfort of her own home. She was remembered for her wisdom, love, and nurturing spirit.

“She adored being a grandmother… just as she cherished Avery, Leslie, Austin, and Aaron,” the family wrote, highlighting her deep bond with all her grandchildren.

Tributes poured in from public figures, including Billie Jean King, who expressed their condolences. Lin-Manuel Miranda fondly recalled her warm smile during a 2009 performance at the White House.
